Electroless Nickel (EN)

DIXIE now offers Electroless Nickel (EN) plating with the same quality standards and flexible, high capacity rack and barrel processes our customers have always appreciated.

Electroless nickel plating is an auto-catalytic process used to deposit a coating of nickel on a part. Unlike electroplating, it is not necessary to pass an electric current through the solution to form a deposit. Electroless nickel is very hard and is used to prevent corrosion as well as wear. This plating process provides a uniform coating thickness over all part surfaces.

There are three Electroless Nickel plating process types available:

  • Low Phosphorous treatment offers improved hardness and wear characteristics, higher temperature resistance, and increased corrosion resistance in alkaline environments.

  • Medium Phosphorus treatment is the most common type of Electroless Nickel applied. It has bright and semi-bright options and offers good hardness and wear characteristics along with moderate corrosion resistance.

  • High Phosphorus treatment provides high corrosion resistance and is non-magnetic.
